OUAGADOUGOU: Brig. Gen. Célestin Simpore, Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces of Burkina Faso, met with Maj. Gen. Mohammed Al-Moghedi, Secretary General of the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC), at the General Staff headquarters in Ouagadougou to discuss initiatives aimed at combating terrorism in the Sahel region. According to Saudi Press Agency, the meeting focused on the IMCTC Program to Combat Terrorism for the Sahel Countries, which was initially launched during the Riyadh Second Meeting of IMCTC Defense Ministers Council in February. The discussions also covered various training initiatives and the broader strategy of the coalition in addressing terrorism through multiple facets including ideology, media, counter-terrorism financing, and military operations. During his visit, Al-Moghedi also engaged with other leaders from the Burkina Faso Armed Forces to further elaborate on the Sahel countries' program, which aims to enhance regional security and stability by effectively co untering terrorism. Brig. Gen. Simpore expressed his appreciation for the coalition's robust efforts in tackling terrorism and extremism.
