Riyadh: The Board of Directors of the Saudi Electricity Regulatory Authority (SERA) held an emergency meeting on Saturday evening, chaired by Minister of Energy Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, with the participation of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Electricity Company, to address the consequences of the power outage in the southern region, which occurred at 16:01 this evening. According to Saudi Press Agency, SERA's Board of Directors confirmed the continuation of its meeting with the Saudi Electricity Company's Board of Directors to oversee efforts to restore electrical service to the affected subscribers as quickly as possible. The board also emphasized the urgency of hastening service restoration to all consumers. In this context, SERA's Board of Directors directed the Saudi Electricity Company to conduct a comprehensive and urgent internal investigation to determine the technical or operational reasons for the outage and provide a detailed report on the findings. The board reaffirmed i ts commitment to monitoring the measures taken to ensure the company's adherence to technical and operational standards that guarantee the continuity of electrical service, aligning with SERA's responsibility to protect the rights of consumers across all regions of the Kingdom.
