Saudi Arabia Marks International Day of Sign Languages

Riyadh: The Kingdom marked the International Day of Sign Languages, an observance held annually on September 23 to promote the rights of deaf people and raise awareness about this vital form of communication. The day was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 2017 to support linguistic and cultural diversity.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Saudi Arabia has enhanced its efforts to serve the deaf community by incorporating sign language into public and official events and occasions. The Kingdom also facilitates sign language education to promote the linguistic identity of the deaf community.
