RIYADH: The Executive Board of the Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne (UIPM) has officially chosen Riyadh as the host city for its General Assembly (Congress) in November 2024. This decision reflects the growing prominence of Saudi Arabia in the international sports arena.
According to r Saudi Press Agency, the bid for hosting the UIPM Congress was submitted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on March 14 and received all the necessary commitments and approvals by September of this year. Nasser Al-Dughether, President of the Saudi Modern Pentathlon Federation, expressed his gratitude towards the Saudi leadership for its constant support in bringing such prestigious events to the country.
Al-Dughether also acknowledged the efforts of Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal bin Abdulaziz, the Minister of Sports and President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, along with Prince Fahd bin Jalawi bin Abdulaziz bin Musaed, the committee’s vice-president, for their close involvement in securing this opportunity. Hosting the UIPM Congress is a significant milestone for Riyadh and reinforces Saudi Arabia's role as an emerging host for major international sports events.
