Red Crescent’s Quick Action Restores Umrah Performer’s Pulse in Makkah

Riyadh: The Saudi Red Crescent Authority's ambulance teams in Makkah Region rescued an Algerian Umrah performer at the Grand Mosque. Following a distress call about a man in his sixties collapsing at a gate in the outer courtyards of the mosque, the teams swiftly responded.

According to Saudi Press Agency, upon arrival, they diagnosed him with cardiac and respiratory arrest and immediately administered CPR using a LUCAS chest compression device and an automated external defibrillator (AED). He was then taken to a medical facility for further observation and treatment.

The rapid response, achieved in less than two minutes, was made possible by the proactive deployment of ambulance and volunteer teams as part of the preparedness plan for Ramadan by the Saudi Red Crescent Authority in Makkah.
