Lebanese Foreign Minister Discusses Regional Issues, Receives Invitation to Key European Meetings

BEIRUT: Caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Dr. Abdallah Bou Habib, engaged in significant diplomatic discussions this Wednesday, meeting with both the Iranian and Spanish representatives, and securing an invitation to upcoming major regional forums in Europe. According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Dr. Bou Habib first held a meeting with Mohammad-Reza Sheibani, the Iranian Foreign Minister's Special Representative for the West Asia region. The discussions centered around the recent Israeli aggression on Lebanon and other developments in the region, reflecting the ongoing tensions and the complex geopolitical landscape of West Asia. Subsequently, Dr. Bou Habib welcomed the Spanish Ambassador to Lebanon, Jesús Santos Aguado, who delivered a formal invitation for the Lebanese minister to attend the 9th Regional Forum of the Union for the Mediterranean, alongside the 5th Ministerial Meeting of the European Union and the Southern Neighborhood Countries. These significant events are schedul ed to take place in Barcelona on October 28, 2024. The conversations with Ambassador Aguado also covered the key issues that will be tabled during the two forums, including the ongoing Israeli conflict. Dr. Bou Habib accepted the invitation, and plans were made for him to extend his trip to Madrid for further bilateral discussions aimed at addressing the Lebanese situation and exploring avenues to halt the Israeli aggression. These meetings underscore Lebanon's active engagement in international diplomacy and highlight the importance of regional and European partnerships in addressing and resolving Middle Eastern conflicts.
