KSGAAL and Saudi Falcons Club Launch ‘Falconry Terminology Dictionary’

Riyadh: The King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language (KSGAAL) launched the 'Falconry Terminology Dictionary' in cooperation with the Saudi Falcons Club, coinciding with the International Saudi Falcons and Hunting Exhibition 2025.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Secretary-General of the academy Dr. Abdullah bin Saleh Al-Washmi praised the support of Minister of Culture and Chairman of the Board of Trustees Prince Bader bin Abdullah bin Farhan for the academy's initiatives and projects. He explained that the dictionary represents a qualitative addition to the series of specialized dictionaries produced by the academy in collaboration with national institutions, documenting concepts related to Arab heritage and strengthening the Arabic language in specialized fields of knowledge.

Dr. Al-Washmi stressed that cooperation with the Saudi Falcons Club serves as a model of institutional integration, advancing the Arabic language through knowledge-based projects that bridge terminological gaps and address the needs of both specialists and enthusiasts.

CEO of the Saudi Falcons Club Talal AlShamaisi said that the launch of the falconry dictionary marks an important step toward preserving the cultural heritage of falconry and documenting its terminology, passed down through generations, within a scientific and lexical framework that enhances its local and global standing. He added that the partnership with the academy reflects the integration of national efforts to serve both heritage and language.

The new dictionary enriches specialized Arabic content, supports researchers and enthusiasts, and consolidates the Kingdom's role as a global hub for falconry. It includes around 277 lexical entries, both singular and compound, covering falcon species, colors, physical and moral characteristics, life stages, diseases, and defects, as well as taming and training tools and technical terms related to falconry equipment.
