Interior Ministry Foils Attempt to Smuggle 207 Kg of Methamphetamine in Malaysia

Riyadh: In a significant crackdown on international drug trafficking, the Ministry of Interior of Saudi Arabia, through its General Directorate of Narcotics Control (GDNC), intercepted a major methamphetamine shipment destined for Malaysia. The operation thwarted the transfer of 207 kilograms of methamphetamine, commonly known as Shabu, hidden ingeniously within a wooden box. According to Saudi Press Agency, the successful seizure was the result of a meticulously planned operation involving close coordination with Malaysian authorities. This interdiction underscores the Kingdom's commitment to combating the proliferation of illegal narcotics on a global scale. The GDNC's vigilance and strategic international cooperation were pivotal in preventing this substantial quantity of methamphetamine from reaching its intended destination. The Ministry of Interior reiterated the importance of international collaboration in its ongoing fight against drug trafficking networks. It emphasized the effectiveness of partner ships with countries that share a mutual interest in curbing the menace posed by such criminal syndicates. In its statement, the ministry also highlighted the critical role of community vigilance and cooperation in these efforts. It encouraged citizens and residents to report any suspicious drug-related activities by contacting the designated hotlines: (911) for Makkah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Region, and (999) for the other regions.
