Heritage Commission Completes Phase Four of Historical Site Restoration in Riyadh, Qassim

Riyadh: The Heritage Commission continues its efforts to protect archaeological sites from encroachments and visual distortions as part of the fourth phase of the project to remove distortions from heritage sites. This phase covers Riyadh, Qassim, Al-Ahsa, Eastern, and Northern Borders regions.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the fourth phase of work was carried out by specialized teams using safe materials and techniques designed to preserve the historical value and original components of the sites. The efforts included removing random writings and drawings at multiple locations.

The commission stated that the project will continue in the remaining areas of this phase, specifically Northern Borders Region, within a comprehensive national plan to address visual distortions at archaeological sites, ensure their sustainability, and enhance their cultural and civilizational value.

It further stressed the importance of raising public awareness about the significance of archaeological sites, while intensifying monitoring and field follow-ups, as well as documenting achievements under this national project dedicated to protecting heritage assets.
