GASTAT: Expenditure on Research and Development Increases by 17.4% in 2023.

Riyadh: The General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) released the research and development statistics for 2023 today, showing that expenditure on research and development (R and D) increased by 17.4%, reaching SAR22.61 billion compared to 2022. According to Saudi Press Agency, the statistics also indicated that the workforce in the R and D field increased by 12.2%, bringing the total number of employees to 49,337. The number of researchers also increased by 22.1% from the previous year, reaching 36,832. The research and development statistics are an annual overview of R and D in Saudi Arabia, providing vital economic indicators on expenditure and workforce related to this field.
