Fashion Commission and Manga Productions Sign MoU to Support Saudi Fashion Sector through Creative Content

Riyadh: The Fashion Commission signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Manga Productions, a subsidiary of the Mohammed bin Salman Foundation (Misk), to establish a framework of cooperation that leverages creative content, including manga, anime, and games, to support the Saudi fashion sector and promote its talents locally and globally, in line with Saudi Vision 2030 goals to develop the creative economy and enhance cultural exchange.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the MoU focuses on three main pillars: content and visual storytelling to highlight Saudi identity through manga, anime, and digital platforms; talent empowerment through training, mentorship, and production opportunities for Saudis; and global promotion through joint campaigns and international platforms to expand the presence of Saudi fashion, particularly in Japan and Asia.

The first initiative under the MoU was the launch of a special manga edition of the 'State of Fashion Sector in Saudi Arabia 2025' report, designed for Japanese audiences and presented during the Fashion Commission's investment roadshow in Tokyo on September 5, on the sidelines of Fashion Week, in the presence of investors and creative leaders from Japan and the region.

CEO of the Fashion Commission Burak Cakmak affirmed the commission's commitment to innovating new ways to deliver Saudi cultural identity to the world. He said that the partnership with Manga Productions represents a model of integration between creative industries, where Japanese manga artistry meets Saudi fashion in a narrative that highlights Saudi talents and strengthens the Kingdom's global presence.

CEO of Manga Productions Dr. Essam A. Bukhary said that the agreement is an important step in employing manga, animation, and video games to support the cultural and creative ecosystem. He noted that presenting a Saudi manga work at Tokyo Fashion Week confirms Saudi creativity and its ability to compete internationally across multiple creative fields.

He added that the cooperation represents a step in merging creative content with the fashion industry, opening broader horizons for Saudi talents to reach international platforms and consolidating the Kingdom's position as a hub for creativity, content, and fashion.
