‘Desert X Prix’ Kicks Off in Qiddiya as Part of Extreme E Electric Off-Road Racing Series

Riyadh: The first race of the 'Desert X Prix,' one of the rounds of the 'Extreme E' electric off-road racing series, kicked off yesterday in Qiddiya. The event is organized by the Saudi Automobile and Motorcycle Federation (SAMF), under the supervision of the Ministry of Sport, and in partnership with the Public Investment Fund (PIF) and Qiddiya City. According to Saudi Press Agency, the first race witnessed dominance by the Kristoffersson Motorsport team, with Sweden's Johan Kristoffersson and Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky securing first place. The Hansen Motorsport team, represented by Norway's Ole Christian Veiby and Hedda Hosås, came in second, while their teammates, Norwegian Andreas Bakkerud and Britain's Catie Munnings, completed the top three by finishing in third place. In the redemption race, the Jameel Motorsport team, comprising Sweden's Kevin Hansen and Australia's Molly Taylor, secured first place. They were followed by the JBX team, led by Finland's Tommi Hallman and Spain's Christine GZ, while t he STARD team, represented by Britain's Patrick O'Donovan and the United States' Amanda Sorensen, finished third. The championship will conclude tomorrow with the second race, scheduled to take place in the morning on a 3,127-meter-long track, with a width ranging between 10 and 60 meters.
