Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Competition Launches in Mauritania for West African Countries

Nouakchott: The Minister of Islamic Affairs and Original Education in Mauritania, Sidi Yahya Ould Cheikhna Ould Lemrabet, inaugurated the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Competition for Memorizing the Holy Quran and the Prophetic Sunnah on Tuesday at the Conference Palace. This marks the competition's first session at the level of West African countries. Organized by Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, in collaboration with Mauritania's Ministry of Islamic Affairs and Original Education, the event sees participation from 136 contestants across 16 West African nations. According to Saudi Press Agency, the competition aims to foster religious knowledge and strengthen ties between Saudi Arabia and Mauritania, as well as within the wider West African and Islamic communities. During the opening ceremony, the Saudi Ambassador to Mauritania, Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Raqabi, highlighted the significance of hosting the competition outside Saudi Arabia f or the first time, emphasizing its role in promoting religious education and cooperation among participating countries. The event also featured speeches emphasizing the shared goals and continuous partnership between Riyadh and Nouakchott across various sectors, reflecting a mutual commitment to educational and cultural exchange.
