Riyadh: Secretary-General of the Arab Red Crescent and Red Cross Organization (ARCO) Abdullah bin Suhail Al-Muhaidli received a delegation from the Libyan Red Crescent Society, headed by its Secretary-General Marai Al-Dersi. During the meeting, the two sides discussed several topics of mutual interest and the need to enhance cooperation in strengthening humanitarian work across the Arab region through ARCO, especially given the humanitarian challenges the region is currently facing.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the Libyan delegation was briefed on the activities undertaken by the General Secretariat of ARCO and the efforts exerted to advance joint Arab humanitarian action. ARCO Secretary-General stressed the important role of the Libyan Red Crescent in supporting humanitarian work, highlighting the need to activate the Arab Fund for Humanitarian Projects to ensure an effective and rapid response to emergencies in the region, and to support national societies in building their capacities to enhance humanitarian response and alleviate the suffering of those affected.
