Jeddah: President of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa extended his congratulations to Saudi club Al-Nassr for clinching the title at the first-ever AFC eChampions League Elite, which concluded yesterday in Jeddah.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the final day of the tournament delivered high excitement, with Al-Nassr overcoming Japan's Yokohama F. Marinos in the semifinals, while Uzbekistan's Pakhtakor faced Iran's Persepolis F.C. The thrilling final saw Al-Nassr emerge victorious over Persepolis with a 2-0 aggregate score.
Sheikh Salman praised the Saudi team's stellar performance, led by players Amjad Alqarni and Sief Addeen Dababneh. 'On behalf of the AFC, I congratulate Al-Nassr on their outstanding performance in the AFC eChampions League Elite,' he said.
He also expressed appreciation to the Local Organizing Committee and the Saudi Arabian Football Federation for their exceptional efforts in ensuring the tournament's success, marking a significant milestone in the AFC's push to grow esports across the continent.
