Ministry of Defense is a major partner in World Defense Show 2022

Riyadh, March 06, 2022, SPA — The Ministry of Defense will participate as a major partner in the World Defense Show 2022, to be held in Riyadh on March 6-9, under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud with a wide international presence.

In its pavilion including the participation of branches of the Saudi armed forces, the Ministry of Defense will review the ministry’s development journey and highlight the leading role of the ministry and its achievements in protecting the homeland and its capabilities by land, sea and air, in addition to the developmental role being played by the ministry in health, education and housing services.

The ministry transmits the unique event through eight accompanying exhibitions in the regions of the Kingdom, allowing its employees to visit the Show and see the latest global defense systems, and participates through a number of accompanying events, air shows and live shows that showcase the capabilities of operational compatibility between defense and security systems in all areas of land, sea and air, with equipping a field hospital in the show , and evacuation aircraft.

As part of the cultural show activities, the Ministry participates in intellectual leadership sessions, the Buyers Meeting Program, the Future Talents Program in the defense industries sector, and the Program of Women’s Role and Their Role in the Saudi Ministry of Defense on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

The World Defense Show, organized by the General Authority for Military Industries every two years, is a global platform for operational coordination across the five areas of the defense industry: land, sea, air, security and space.

Saudi Stock Exchange Main Index Ends Trading Higher at 12,804 Points

Riyadh — Saudi Stock Exchange’s main index ended trading higher here today, gaining 47.91 points to close at 12,804.22 points.

The total value of the trading reported was SAR 11.2 billion, while the toll of shares traded was 276 million, divided into over 430,000 deals.

The Saudi Parallel Equity Market Index (NOMU) ended the day losing 14.56 points, to close at 24,752.46 points, with a valuation of SAR 89 million and an overall tally of more than 1,000,000 stocks traded and divided into as many as 4,158 deals.

Interior Minister visits WDS Riyadh 2022

Riyadh: Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa today visited the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to attend the opening of the World Defence Show WDS Riyadh 2022.

 

The visit followed an invitation from the Saudi Minister of Interior His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz Al Saudi.

 

Gen. Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa hailed strong fraternal relations binding the two countries, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

 

He commended the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Crown Prince, Deputy Premier and Defence Minister.

 

He congratulated the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the inaugurations of the first edition of WDS Riyadh 2022, which opened today in the Saudi Capital, attracting more than 590 exhibitors from 42 countries and 100 delegations from 70 states.

 

The minister was briefed on cutting edge security and defence equipment and systems, noting that the exhibition is an exemplary opportunity to transfer these industries and forge partnerships that contribute to strengthening regional stability and promoting sustainable development.

 

He stressed the importance of modernising work mechanisms and systems in the ministry’s various sectors  and training the personal to keep pace with changes and security challenges.

Worshippers at Grand Holy Mosque Perform Fajr Prayer without Physical Distancing

Makkah– Worshippers at the Grand Holy Mosque today performed the Fajr (dawn) prayer without physical distancing, following a decision by the Ministry of Interior to lift preventive procedures and halt applying physical distancing procedures at the Grand Holy Mosque, Prophet’s Holy Mosques and other mosques, with continuing to commit to wearing masks.

The Grand Holy Mosque provides a healthy and safe environment, where the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Holy Mosque and the Prophet’s Holy Mosque purifies air conditioning inside the Grand Holy Mosque nine times per day and sterilizes air with ultraviolet radiation before spreading it to the mosque through special air conditioning devices that purify air 100% through several stages including withdrawing natural air from the roof of the Grand Holy Mosque through suction fans, where air is pumped to filters that are cleaned daily before air arrives at cooling units, which represent a preliminary cooling phase through thermal exchange that uses water for cooling through water pumps that reach the Grand Holy Mosque from Al-Shamiyyah and Ajyad areas. Air is purified before accessing the cooling operation through three other filters.

Also, more than 4,000 employees continue to sterilize the Grand Holy Mosque, its roof, yards and facilities and preparing the mosque for visitors and worshippers through cleaning it 10 times a day with the use of the latest machinery that were provided by the wise leadership to ensure the health and safety of worshippers upon performing rituals and prayers.

Saudi Arabia lifts precautionary and preventive COVID-19 measures

Riyadh: Saudi Arabia has lifted precautionary and preventive measures to combat the coronavirus pandemic, including social distancing and wearing masks outdoors, and allowed all passengers to enter the Kingdom without the need for negative PCR tests or Rapid Antigen Tests.

An official source in the Ministry of Interior said that passengers arriving in the Kingdom are no longer requested to abide by institutional and home quarantine to combat the pandemic.

Passengers arriving in Saudi Arabia on visit visas are requested to have medical insurance to cover the costs of treatment from infection with the coronavirus during their stay in the Kingdom.

The source also announced the lifting of the suspension of direct arrival to the Kingdom and of all flights coming to and departing from the Kingdom to South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Eswatini, Mozambique, Malawi, Mauritius, Zambia, Madagascar, Angola, Seychelles, Comoros, Nigeria, Ethiopia, and Afghanistan.

The source said that social distancing measures in the Grand Mosque in Makkah, the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah, and all mosques were no longer mandatory. However, worshippers will continue to wear facemasks.

Masks are also required in all closed facilities, the source said, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reports.

The source stressed the importance of taking the booster dose, and of verifying the health status on the “Tawakkalna” application to enter facilities, for activities and events, boarding planes, and using public transportation.

The measures will be regularly assessed by the competent health authorities in the Kingdom according to the developments in the epidemiological situation.
